La Magnolia

Friuli-Venezia-Giulia

A Family Bringing The Fruits Of Friuli To Life

Why You’ll Love La Magnolia

Wine Treasures of Friuli

“I grew up in the shade of a century-old magnolia tree, and from a father who instilled in our family the profound love for the land and respect for people.” -Christina Cozzarolo

Christina Cozzarolo is the owner of La Magnolia, a family winery in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia. Her family’s vineyards are found just outside of the historical city of Cividale dei Friuli, important for its archeological treasures; and in the foothills of the Eastern Pre-Alps.

Her father Guido, started building the estate over 40 years ago. Time moves slowly. But much has been done. He found the right place at the right time to construct the family vineyards and little by little, expanded the Villa. Today, Christina and the family operate the Villa to host guests to take part in magical wine tastings, Italian style!

The vines enjoy a unique environment. They’re in close proximity to the Adriatic Sea which blows mineral rich winds to the vineyards; and the brisk air of the Alps flow mountain breeze over the rows of vines, protecting the grapes from disease.

Family Roots, Family Wine

For Chistina, family is important. It gives her strength. It gives her a story that’s rich in memory. Her father planted the first vines in the 1960’s. Since then, thanks to his work of the land and the work of her brother Claudio, a young and talented enologist, La Magnolia grew.

Sadly, Claudio passed away which was an enormous loss for the family. But Christina is strong, resilient, and continues the dream of her father and the family: to create wines that express the beautiful lands of Friuli.

La Magnolia Wine Cellar

One of the lastest projects for the estate, led by Christina, was to upgrade the wine cellar. Today, surrounded in glass, the winery has become an integral part of its natural habitat. During the day, you can look out and gaze at the green vines. At night, covered by a dark blue sky and illuminated by the stars, you can see the dreams of the vines.

La Magnolia Wines

For being a small to medium size winery, La Magnolia has an extensive portfolio producing the native wines of the region like Ribolla Gialla and Pignolo, but also international wines like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The overarching style of their wines is fresh, fruity, and friendly. These are truly family wines because they make an excellent choice to accompany your meals any day of the week. Whether it’s just a normal day or a special day La Magnolia wines will make the day taste better.

"My wife, a friend, and I attended Tony's May 13, 2020 virtual Italian wine tour. Having the Hidden Gems with us to taste as he described each made for an educational and enjoyable evening. We agreed with his description and assessment of each plus had difficulty picking only one favorite! Understanding the story accompanying each wine with Tony's photographs took us on a mini Italian tour at a welcome time."

"Tony is a master at enhancing meals using his art of pairing amazing wines. I used to get store bought wine when I would have company over or just for dinner. After Tony there is no going back that. His wines are from Italian vineyards that pick their grapes by hand (no machines). You taste wine the it way it was meant to be with Gladiator Wines."
